Characteristics
Pelser et al. (2007) proposed that Aetheolaena, Culcitium, Hasteola, Iocenes, Lasiocephalus, and Robinsonia be considered synonyms of Senecio. Still many other traditional species of Senecio may not belong in Senecio (Pelser et al. 2010).
